WHAT STARTED IT
Biloela was established as a service town for the Callide Valley’s agricultural development. A surveyed centre and railway helped support farms, trade and a growing rural community.
WHAT SUSTAINED IT
The town was gazetted in 1924 and the railway arrived the following year. Council administration moved here in 1946. Meat processing, coal mining and power generation subsequently broadened its role beyond the initial farming base.
