1895Town gazetted · Midland railway centre
WHAT STARTED IT
Farms spreading across the Victoria Plains needed transport and services. The Midland railway reached the district in 1893 and Moora was gazetted two years later around the new rail centre.
WHAT SUSTAINED IT
A post office, court, school and police station followed quickly. Land releases and postwar settlement expanded grain and livestock production; severe flooding in 1999 forced rebuilding and mitigation work.
